    About 359

    Fit · Fun · Focus

Tennis lessons that make progress visible. More active, more fun and more to learn with Fit · Fun · Focus.

Fit · Fun · Focus™ is the practical system our coaches use to build every lesson. Not extra theory for the court, but three fixed reference points: are we moving enough, is it enjoyable enough, and are we learning something concrete?

Tailored to player, group and goal.

Fit · Fun · Focus is the practical system inside the 359 Method — the overarching development method.

359 Fit · Fun · Focus — Progress Not Perfection

Fit · Fun · Focus is the practical system of 359.tennis. Fit stands for movement and energy, Fun for enjoyment and connection, Focus for learning and direction. All three are present in every lesson; the coach tailors the balance between them to the player, the group and the development goal. That is how progress becomes visible instead of accidental.

The player is at the centre. With Fit · Fun · Focus, we balance movement, enjoyment and purposeful learning within every lesson — supporting progress as a player and as a person.

    Three equal elements

Fit, Fun and Focus are not levels or phases. They carry equal weight: remove one and the lesson loses its balance.

    Fit

    Movement and energy

    • Active lesson design with many ball contacts
    • As little unnecessary queueing as possible
    • A workload that suits age and level
    • Movement as the base for technique and play

    Fun

    Enjoyment and connection

    • Play formats in which learning happens naturally
    • Connection with the group and with the coach
    • Success experiences that sustain motivation
    • An atmosphere where mistakes are allowed

    Focus

    Learning and direction

    • Clear learning objectives per lesson and per block
    • Concrete feedback on what you are learning
    • Attention and calm at the right moment
    • Progress that is visible and can be discussed

    From motivation to progress

Fit · Fun · Focus does not stay theory: it shapes how a lesson is built and coached.

    The person

Why does someone play: for movement and energy, for enjoyment and contact, or to learn and improve?

    The lesson

Every lesson has two goals: one shared tennis goal and one human development goal.

    The exercise

Within the same exercise format, pace, challenge and feedback vary per player.

Players in a group largely do the same exercise formats. An exercise format may deliberately return, with a different balance, challenge or personal point of attention.

How the coach sets the balance

The ratio between Fit, Fun and Focus is not fixed. The coach sets it within the lesson and the group a player trains in. That does not mean every player in a group lesson receives a fully bespoke programme — it means the coach makes deliberate choices based on five factors.

    Level

A beginner needs a different build-up than an advanced player. The coach adjusts pace, complexity and repetition.

    Motivation

One player comes for movement, another for enjoyment or to get better. That drive shapes how an exercise is offered.

    Personal preference

Some players learn by doing, others by understanding. The coach recognises this and varies the approach.

    Group context

A group lesson stays a group lesson. The balance is set for the group as a whole, with room for differences within it.

    Development goal

Players working towards matches get a different Fit / Fun / Focus ratio than players who mainly want to stay fit and enjoy the game.

Tailored to player, group and goal.

    Who works with it

Fit · Fun · Focus is not the personal style of one trainer. It is the shared way of working of our coaches. How they are trained and supported is described under Coach education & Coach System. The method this system belongs to is explained on the 359 Method, and how it grew in practice in the history of 359.
