    Parent Handbook

Information for parents about our vision, approach and your role within 359.tennis.

The 359.tennis Parent Handbook describes the vision, Fit-Fun-Focus framework, and practical guidelines for parents of tennis students. A guide to the role of parents in their child's tennis development.

    What is 359.tennis?

359.tennis is a professionally organised tennis school at NTC Amstelveen. We work with clear structure, central planning and a strong team of coaches.

We believe that tennis is more than technique or results. Tennis is an environment where children learn to deal with:

    Perseverance
    Self-confidence
    Focus
    Teamwork
    Disappointment and recovery

The player's interest always comes first.

The Fit • Fun • Focus Framework

Within 359.tennis we work from three interconnected pillars:

    FIT — Body

Movement, coordination, energy and physical development. A strong foundation builds confidence on court.

    FUN — Experience

Enjoyment, safety and connection. Children learn faster in an environment where they feel safe.

    FOCUS — Mental development

Concentration, reflection and dealing with pressure. We guide players in how they think and respond during play.

These three elements together form a sustainable development environment.

    Your role as a parent

At 359.tennis we see parents as important partners in their child's development.

    You support the process.

    The coach guides the process.

Clear role division creates calm and clarity for the player.

    Before the lesson

Ensure your child arrives on time and well-rested
Create positive expectations without performance pressure
    Avoid technical instructions beforehand
Let the training start without extra directions

Calm before the lesson gives focus during the lesson.

    During the lesson

    Observe calmly from the sideline
    Do not give technical instructions
Let the coach lead the process
Support with positive, relaxed body language

Double coaching causes confusion. One clear line builds confidence.

    After the lesson

    "What did you enjoy today?"
Focus on effort and learning experience
    Avoid direct analysis or corrections
    Allow space for personal reflection

Enjoyment and learning are more important than immediate outcomes.

    The parent framework at 359.tennis

To maintain a safe and professional development environment, we uphold clear agreements:

    1

Observe calmly without coaching from the sideline

    2

Trust in the professionalism of the coach

    3

Direct organisational questions through central communication

    4

No individual arrangements outside the organisation

    5

Long-term development takes priority over short-term preferences

This structure protects the child from unnecessary pressure and conflicting signals.

    Parent involvement with direction

Involvement is valuable. Direction makes it powerful.

At 359.tennis we therefore offer supplementary parent guidance each season for parents who wish to consciously invest in their role. This is not a standard included programme, but an opportunity for deeper engagement.

Our shared goal always remains the same:

A stable, safe and professional tennis environment where players can grow sustainably.
