How development works within a colour

Multiple levels within every colour
359 uses three levels in Red, three in Orange, two in Green and multiple levels in Yellow. This allows a child to stay in the same colour longer and still make visible progress.
On average four seasons per colour
A colour stage lasts on average four seasons, roughly two years. Depending on age, physical development, aptitude and training intensity this may be slightly shorter or longer. This is not an automatic promotion timeline.
All strokes and tactics in every colour
In Red, Orange, Green and Yellow children can learn all major techniques, strokes and tactical principles. We adapt the court, ball, speed and game format to the level, age and physical abilities of the child.
The coach determines the final placement
Age and experience give direction. Our coaches ultimately always determine the colour, the level within that colour and the best-fitting group.
In exceptional situations a coach may place a player earlier in the next colour, for example with rapid physical development or an intensive Perform or Academy programme.

Who guides my child?
Your child trains with a team of 359 coaches at NTC in Amstelveen. Coaches are centrally supervised and all work with the same method and lesson structure.
- One team, one way of working — not a single coach with their own approach.
- Coaches are trained in-house in Fit · Fun · Focus.
- If a coach is unavailable, your child still recognises the lesson structure.
- We work without a fixed-coach guarantee, so quality does not depend on one person.

What happens in the first lesson?
The first lesson is mainly about getting to know the coach, the group and the court. Your child does not need any experience.
- Welcome and a short introduction to the coach and the group.
- Start by playing — moving, hitting, fun and confidence.
- One clear learning point, matched to level and age.
- A short handover to the parent afterwards: what went well, what we work on next.
Tennis Kids pathway: Start → Red → Orange → Green → Yellow
Each colour is a development stage with multiple levels. Progress within a colour is as valuable as moving to the next colour. Our coaches ultimately decide the final colour and the level within that colour.

What Our Players Say
Read experiences from players and parents who train at 359.tennis.
I hadn't played tennis for 15 years and was afraid I'd have to start from scratch. But the coach saw there was still a foundation and polished it up. After three months I was playing competition again. The barrier to come back is lower than you think.
Lisa Mulder
Returning player after 15 years — Wednesday evening group
We started at 359.tennis as complete beginners. We wanted to learn tennis and have a regular weekly family activity. Now we take family group lessons together, and our daughter also trains in her own group. The best part is that it's not just a fun sport, but it truly strengthens our family bond.
Familie Nakamura
Family group lesson — playing tennis together
For over 10 years, we've been taking tennis lessons at 359.tennis and playing Saturday afternoon competition at TV De Kegel. We're a fun group of friends in the 50+ category. It's wonderful to be socially and athletically active together. The combination of lessons and competition truly keeps us together as a team.
